I’ve been fiddling around with poetry a lot more these days because, for me, it’s a lot easier to write a poem and express myself than it is to write a story or in a journal. Over the next few weeks I imagine I’ll be producing quite a bit of it. Thanks in advance for reading!
In Honor of Your Tears When You Said Goodbye to Your Parents
For a long time I thought it was easier to say goodbye from the porch than to drive away, but I was wrong. And if I have ever loved you, I will cry for an hour after you go, maybe chant your name as though you were some exalted being. And if I have ever loved you, I will lie in the place that was your bed and wish you were with me. If I have ever loved you, I will learn that staying behind is the hardest thing we ever have to do.
